Jam and Fishes

Check the hot pink croc boots- they are awesome at keeping out the wet, but stink at keeping out the hurt from stepping on the rocks.

Here we are driving on the actual creek, its only a foot or so deep and you can drive out on it to get to the silvers- those are the good salmon. You catch them with your bare hands in the Aleut way- I sucked at it. As you can see- no fish in my hands.

Making jam in Meg and Bri's house. First you have to pick the berries- a pain in the butt. Then you squish them in a bowl with sugar. You boil them with the pectin and then put them in jars.

Hi Dana, Vicki clued us into your Alaska Blog---this should be a real adventure. It sounds like it already has been. Best wishes in your new setting--you'll do great things with your students. Be on the look out for Mindy Reese (Augsburg Grad and elementary teacher) who recently moved to a small island in Alaska close to Russia (maybe this is the "look out and see Russia" that Sarah Pallin talks about).
